KET 50th Documentary Film pdf
The Kentucky Derby Festival kicked off the 50th Celebration with a gala event at the Louisville Palace Theatre on September 28, 2004. The highlight of the evening was the premiere of a new documentary from Kentucky Educational Television (KET, KY's PBS affiliate). "Kentucky Derby Festival's 50th Celebration" was produced and directed by Aaron Hutchings. The stirring film features archival footage of early Derby Festival events and a behind-the-scenes look at 2004 Festival activities. 2005 Derby Festival Chairman Dan Owens declared, "If you see this documentary and you're not proud to be a Louisvillian, I'm gonna check your pulse and make sure you're alive." The one-hour documentary was a moving tribute to the Derby Festival's past, present and future. It aired statewide on Oct. 4 on KET and Oct. 9 on KET2. It will air again in the spring of 2005 and is also available for purchase.
